How to Tell if You Have a Winning Product
While it’s one battle to find a product that would fit well in your store, it’s a whole other war in itself to make sure that this product is actually a winner. Before you fully invest in a product, you want to make sure that people are actually buying it or interested in buying it. This is because what you think people will want means absolutely nothing in relation to what people are actually going to want. So, when you think you’ve found that hot product, here are the steps you should take to ensure that you’ll have a very good chance of making money with it.
First of all, let’s analyze the Aliexpress page. So, first thing’s first, let’s look at the orders. While it isn’t a clear indicator of it’s success potential, the orders of the item can help to let you know immediately if it is a popular and successful item. Generally, a few hundred orders is a very good indication of if an item is popular or not. Now, let’s go into the actual product page. You’re going to want to take a look at the reviews of the item and make sure that people are in love with the product and don’t have any complaints about the quality or anything of the sort. This will make sure that you’re selling a quality product that won’t blow up in your face when people start receiving them. Then you’ll want to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page, where it shows the separate orders. Here, it’ll show you a part of the name of the people that placed the order, what date they placed it, and how many they ordered. If there is a good steady frequency of orders here, that is always a good sign as it shows the item is consistently popular. However, you also want to take a look at the name, and see if the same name shows up numerous times over a period of days. If this occurs, that means that this item is most likely being dropshipped by a single person, and that’s a very good sign because it proves that the item is already being successfully dropshipped, which is great.
Secondly, a great thing to quickly do is head over to Google Trends. What this will show you is if the keywords relating to the item are being searched and keeping the item relevant in the modern day. So, if I were to search for “pug necklace”, I can see the trendline for that search term, showing me whether or not people are actively looking for it. Make sure you try other keywords that are similarly related, such as “pug jewelry” and “pug pendant”, to make sure you cover all of the bases. While this isn’t a super important step to take, it does give you a good idea about whether or not you have yourself a viral product.
Finally, to truly be sure that people are interested in your product, you’re going to want to run Facebook PPE advertisements. These advertisements put the ad in front of a large amount of people with a high probability of interacting with the ad. When you run this ad, you can look at the engagement of it to get a feel for how people will respond when you launch advertisements meant for conversions. Whenever I run PPE ads, I always aim for a CPE (cost per engagement) of 1 to 3 cents. This shows me that a lot of people are very interested in the product and that it has a large viral potential. This will definitely require some personal judgement on your end, as different niches simply have different engagement in general, but this is the biggest indication of interest that you’re going to get. As a quick note, don’t be scared of losing money when you run PPE ads. They may not be made for conversions, but in some niches (like mine) people actually respond very well and sometimes convert from them, making the ads at least break even. To find this out for yourself, you need to test test test.
